Getting your TVC approved.
CAD Approval

Obtaining a Clear Ads/CAD pre-approval before shooting or editing your final TVC is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. This can save you money in the long run if any changes need to be made to your TVC.
The pre-approval will provide guidance on any changes or substantiation documents that need to be made relating to claims or content in your TVC. If you don't have pre-approval, no need to fret! We'll be happy to review your TVC and provide expert advice accordingly.
We'll be able to advise on any changes or substantiation documents required before we submit your application to Clear Ads/CAD. Most of the time, you'll require substantiation for major claims in your TVC about your product/service being the best, biggest, cheapest, or other related comparative claims.
Additionally, you'll need to provide T & C details for guarantees, warranties, rebate offers, and competitions. If your advertising relates to gambling, the adult industry, alcoholic beverages, financial, food, health, legal, therapeutic, and testimonials amongst others, it will be subject to additional review.
After the final edit, we'll review your TVC and create all the necessary documents & advise of anything else you may need for the application.
Your TVC audio must be OP48 Compliant. Don't worry if it's not, we can help adjust your audio levels to comply.
Approval Timings: Usually, it will take a minimum of 2 days for Approval or feedback about any claims or substations required.
If it's urgent, Clear Ads/CAD does provide a priority and red hot service at double and four times the original cost, so it pays to be organized. Once approved, your Clear Ads / CAD approval is valid for 2 years.

How long does CAD approval take? When it comes to CAD approval, the process can vary in length depending on a few factors. Typically, it takes at least 2 working days for CAD to classify your TV commercial (TVC) and provide a CAD Classification Number. To ensure your TVC goes to air on time, it's best to complete the classification stage well in advance of your on-air date. To avoid delays in the classification process, it's important to make sure that your application contains all the necessary materials. CAD prioritises applications based on their on-air dates and the order in which they are received. However, for those in need of a more urgent service, CAD does offer a same-day and urgent classification options at an extra cost. This service is subject to certain conditions, including the receipt of all materials by a certain time of that day and must follow the terms of a pre-arrangement. By understanding these guidelines, you can ensure that your TVC is approved and ready to air in a timely manner.

Delivering your TVC to the Networks.
Once you have a Clear Ads/CAD classification number, the next step is to prepare your TVC and send it to the appropriate networks for Free TV & Paid TV. This is where it can get complicated.
In Australia, all the Free TV networks require files to be delivered in a certain way and adhere to strict formatting guidelines, otherwise, it may get rejected and cost time and money. Unfortunately, we can't just send an email with a download link to a raw file.
